Wow, you know Latin!?  That's so cool!  Translate, por favor! (Yes, I know that was Spanish.  I know Spanish and Japanese...not Latin, though, unfortunately.)

Anyway, here's a quote from the Bible I really like:

"Do you observe the calving of the deer?  Can you number the months that they fulfill, and do you know the time when they give birth, when they crouch to give birth to their offspring, and are delivered of their young?"

To me, this quote epitomizes a loving, compassionate God who knows the life of every creature, who shares in their joy and pain, and is present when each animal gives birth to her young.

Yeah I know a bit of Latin, German, Spanish, French, Japanese... Not an expert by any means, but I can get around. But since you asked me to translate I'll be cool about it.

"deus vocatus atque invocatus aderit" = God, whether summoned or not, will be there.

"tu ne cede malis sed contra audentior ito" = "Yield not to misfortunes, but advance all the more boldly against them."

"exigo a me non ut optimis par sim, sed ut malis melior" = "I require myself not to be equal to the best, but to be better than the worst (or bad)"

Here's another Bible verse that actually moved me to tears:

... To the best of my knowledge I coined that phrase...but then again I could be wrong and just herd it some were. So if it is in other writtings do let me know. Though I would be happy to coin a phrase like that.

The Litany against fear is a incantation from in Frank Herbert's Dune in order to focus your mind in times of peril. The litany is as follows:

One of my favorites is by Robert A. Heinlein from Time Enough For Love, "Always apologize, especially when you're right."

One famous one that, while true in Japan, is one I don't like, "Deru kugi wo ataeru.  The nail that sticks up gets hit."  Sometimes I feel we must stand up, even if alone, for what we believe in.
