The record-shattering spring storm that blanketed Anchorage on Friday created trouble all around town.

Events were canceled or postponed, including the Heart Run, the biggest footrace in the state.

Police reported one fatal crash, when a pickup spun out of control on O'Malley Road and hit another truck head on. The driver of the second truck wasn't wearing a seat belt and was killed. His wife went to the hospital in critical condition.

Here is the ADN report on it if anyone is interested.
Glad to be of Service.

Yeah, I can tell you we're definitely snowed-in.  Oh well, at least I have video games to keep me company....

Ugh...  I could have sworn I was through unburying my car until next winter.  I was late to work this morning because of it.  That, and the roads were crap.  Snow, ice, and rain my car can handle without a problem.  But this slush-crap is another story.  My car just plain doesn't like it.

Wow that was a nasty storm, I was out driving around on errands all day on Friday, on O'mailly too among other roads. I wasnt even able to drive up the hill on Huffman in my 2WD pickup with studded tires taken off weeks ago.

I've gotten so used to Fairbanks springs that I've been in for the last 5 years. Basically goes from winter to summer in a 1 week period.

Lol, I remember the spring when I was a freshman in high school (this being the beginning of 2001), there was a snow storm in the beginning/middle of May, right before school got out for the summer.  Now it wasn't as bad as here in Anchorage the other day, I think the stuff melted within two days, but it was still odd to see such a strong snow storm in May.

Although the hail in the middle of summer one year was interesting too.  There was so much of it that it in a few places -looked- like it had been snowing.  I remember wearing shorts that day 'cause it was actually warm after the hail storm blew over. :P

Weird weather Alaska has.

I'm about 99.9% sure you can count on it being some variation of "shitty" anywhere in the state.
