Booooo its been cancelled : / Being a fan of live music, I was reallly starting to look forward to it too. Talking to other people I knew this was expected by many. I still wish they could have figured out a way to deal with the rabble without closing the fair.

There comes a time that the organizers had to do this in order to NOT be responsible for the misdeeds of those "rabble" that you referred to.  Having been on the board of a Non-Profit, I can tell you that the insurance for something like this is ASTRONOMICAL!  And Claims against the insurance would only make it worse in the future.

I think that Hippy City has hit Middle Age and now the things that everyone did in Girdwood are now evil.  Sigh... parents saying 'No' to things that they did, grew out of, and grew up after, is soooooooooooo hipacritical...  It's like Clinton staying "Don't smoke pot" or Bush saying "Don't do Cocaine"  Sigh... they made money for years on these visitors, knew what was going on and didn't care... why not be honest and say that they are just becoming "The Man", just like the big city and they don't want people around that want a little freedom... sigh, I know that what goes on is 'Illegal' but WTF, it's Girdwood... Berkinstock capitol of Alaska...

BAAAAH...  Oh well, I never went to the forest fair, and I'm one of those that "Grew Up", I just don't tell others to learn from my experiences...

Of course, I don't think it has anything to do with that, I think that alot of Girdwood has been bought up by the more wealthy, second homes, ski lodges, etc, and they are looking out for their property values, as long as you have a house down there you can party all you want...
