AVPR

Only one thing I could think to say about that movie that sums it all up...

Women and children first.
Glad to be of Service.

Ya but I don't think it has the same meaning between the movies.

If the general theme of both movies is "epic tragedy," I think the statement stands.

Lol Wiley, have you seen Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem?  Trust me, the meaning isn't the same.

I can't enjoy anything with H.R. Gigers xenomorphs unless Ripley is involved... Which she was not in AVP nor AVPR.

That's really too bad, because the events in AVPR very well could have been the consequences of the events in Alien Resurrection (which was a horrible movie, IMHO).

You know, I just can't bring myself to limit my input like that where the xenomorphs are concerned.  I'm utterly fascinated by them, probably because I'm the kind of person that instinctively confronts anything that frightens me...and those things scare the hell out of me.  :o  I even have dreams (I don't wake up scared, so I hesitate to call them nightmares) every once in a while about them getting loose on Earth from time to time, where I seem to be the only one who knows about them and I'm hunting them down while they hunt me.

I know those dreams mean something, but damned if I know what. >.<

Conversely, I think the Yautja are cool, but they don't have the same impact on me as the xenomorphs.  The Yautja in AVPR was very well done, though.  The character had absolutely no dialog, so the fact that the movie was able to get across how that character was conducting an investigation while trying his hardest not to alert the "soft meat" to his presence until he was sure he knew what was going on was pretty amazing.

Aliens was probably the best movie ever made, but AVPR came very close.  Very close indeed.

Oh bite me.

To do that, I'd have to install AVP2...and you don't want me to do that.  I'd hug your face so fast you wouldn't know what hit you!

Ooooh, is the gist of this that AVPR was actually an okay movie? or at least a improvement above AVP? Its probably the next movie I intend to rent in any case.

Alien the first is still my favorite though. Cameron may do action great, but he cant match the atmosphere Ridley Scott can evoke.

Indeed, AVPR is very much the movie AVP should have been.  What the hell is the point to letting xenomorphs loose on Terra if you're not going to involve a populated area?  Let's face it, the South Pole is just about the only unpopulated area left, so isolation is exactly what they intended and it was probably done to avoid crossing some of the controversial movie lines that AVPR crossed.  I liked the movie, and I didn't like AVP - take that however you will.

Oni: bring it on, bitch.  I got some facehugger wang with your name on it, but I doubt you have the stones to disconnect from Puzzle Quest long enough to even install AVP2.

When I first saw the movie Alien I fell in love with Sigourney Weaver.
