6) (Anch) Community Center News ...

Hello from the Anchorage Gay and Lesbian Community Center. In order to keep you updated about What’s Happenin’ at GLCCA, we decided to send out this update whenever we have a few items to share with you.  So, in no particular order….

-  While bicycles are not allowed inside GLCCA, we now have bike locks so your bikes can be secured to the light post, traffic meters, or whatever else you can find that does not move or object.  Just come inside and let the person at the desk know you need to borrow a lock.  In case the volunteer looks at you like you are crazy, feel free to offer the reminder that the locks are stored in the top left hand desk drawer.

-  We have a new TV with DVD and VCR!  Debbi Douglas, Kathy Allen, and Lawrence Camp we thank you lots!

-  We have new DVDs, VHSs, and books in our library.  Steve Gingrich donated a whole slew of DVDs to our collection. Thanks Steve!

-  Steve also made some beautiful 6 foot long oak shelves designed perfectly to hold and display our DVD and VHS library.  Thanks again!

-  New computers!  New computers! We have new computers thanks to Jeff Ridder .  GLCCA now has two PCs and two MACs!

-  We have beautiful new flat screen monitors courtesy of The Last Frontier Men’s Club.  Thank you very much.

-  GLCCA is now equipped with a door bell so those needing a little extra help getting through the doors can summon assistance.

-  GLCCA is having a tea party on Saturday, April 7th, from

3-5 in the afternoon.  This will be High Tea and you are all invited.  While the tea, food, and presentation will be on the formal side, the rest can be formal or foolish, fun or fancy.  Hats are encouraged!  Period, formal, or British costumes optional.  Attitudes required. Come join us! Bring a friend!

- Please be watching for the Graze to Raise fundraiser as we receive money from that event to run GLCCA.

- Sunday, March 18,  3:00 pm at the GLCCA, 336 East 5th Ave.

BiAlaskans is a talking/support/social group for bisexuals, spouses, allies and friends.

The group will meet the third Sunday of each month from 3 -

5 pm at the GLCCA Center AT 336 E. 5th Avenue in Anchorage.   Some of the topics we'll touch on are:

The unique aspects of bisexuality. The struggles of "fitting in" to a gay and/or straight world, bisexuality:

reality or myth?; straight/gay spouse issues & concerns; monogamy and polyamory. We'll tackle one or two of these topics each month.  More resources and literature will be available as the group progresses. This group is being hosted by Talyne Corlyn, former co-director of BiNet AZ - an affiliate of the BiNet USA (www.binetusa.org ) and co-host of the 1998 National Conference on Bisexuality at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ.  For more

information: email - talyne@talynecorlyn.com or call 357-9656.

7) (Anch) Help Needed ...

Two members of our community are in dire need if our help.

Donna and Bryan Parsons are trying to get custody of Bryan's 5 year old son who currently lives in Detroit with his mother. His mother's boyfriend, a twice convicted child molester, is getting out of prison on April 1 and will be living with Bryan's son in his mother's rat infested house that has holes in the floor etc.

Bryan and Donna have been HUGE supporters of our community for years working on all events, floats, toy drives, really anything that needed to be done, they have always been there to help.  They have also helped others in need, always behind the scenes and never asking for recognition or anything in return.

Bryan and Donna are having to fly back and forth to Detroit to fight for custody. They need mileage to fly back and forth. If anyone has extra miles they can donate please contact Donna at 250-0349 or me at 345-3635.

Thank you so much,

Bruno
