No, there isn't.  At least not in America.  You know, the country we currently live in?  A country founded by Puritans: people who were so uptight, the Brits threw them out?

Yeah, no.  There is no "International Celebrate Heterosexuality Day" in this country.  Certain parts of the country may not be quite so uptight as others, but you won't find bare-chested women shakin' their stuff in the streets for cheap plastic shiny Mardi Gras beads in, say, Mississippi, Georgia, or Alabama (you know, the Bible Belt?).  Or Alaska, for that matter. More's the pity....

LOL I like this one.

Though I do hate that argument "There is. Every Day." If that were true then isn't there a Gay Pride every day?

Glad to be of Service.

sorry i don't really count in either category... but i'll ride in the parade on a hammock strung between a gay pride and straight pride floats respectively. hows that for a compromise?

I'm surprised that I never posted here. I have an opinion!

This sort of strikes me as the same sort of argument people bring up about Black History Month - Why isn't there a White History Month? Because it's racist. But it's not racist to have a Black History Month.

I think if someone honestly organized a Straight Pride Parade (that wasn't Mardi Gras, rofl), there would be plenty of people in the lgbt that would be upset. honestly? I don't care. I'm all for it - there is as much stigma associated with most straight relationships in real life as there is with gay relationships. I mean, there are girls (and boys!) constantly being told to abstain from sex, but then have sex thrown at them from all sides. I mean, literally, sex ed is basically "you should practice abstinence. Now I'm going to teach you how to use a condom." I'm all for teaching safe birth control methods, but less confusingly, please.

Additionally, there comes the age old problem of if a girl sleeps around, she's a slut, but if a guy sleeps around it's totally okay. It's kind of bullshit - I mean people say things like "Well, you know, if a key opens lots of locks it's an awesome key, but if a lock opens from a bunch of keys it's a shitty lock" - but how is that fair?

I'm not saying that straight people are prejudiced against half as much as gay people are - on the contrary. But I am saying that a "straight pride parade" would be acceptable because most straight people don't have a safe, healthy way to practice their sexuality. They're constantly being told to be ashamed of, or alternately, to be proud of, the number of people they've slept with - and certain relationships are considered "bad" just because of things like a white guy dating a black chick or vice versa. In a world where I've actually had friends say "I wouldn't date a black chick because my parents would never approve", there's still a need for some sort of education about sexuality - gay AND straight.
