Alright my turn.

1) TM-AK is as abrasive as a whetstone. Something you just sorta get used to.

Yeah, I think they're starting to figure that out. ;D  The whetstone quality comes from having women (my mother, my sister, my wife....) hone their wits (and tongues) against me for most of my life.

2) This guy jumps onto a furry site saying he is the definitive authority on furries. Ok I can swing with that....

3) BUT there are a few things that I have issues with. I am not siding with the good doctor here.

First, you cannot jump on a site dedicated to one specific thing or group of people, and post you are their Dalai Lama. You'd probably get a better reaction if you walked up to each member of the forum and slapped them in the face. If this is these people's way of life, they don't need you to answer questions about it. They've already chosen it. I have YET to see a furry site where the members go "I'm thinking about becoming a furry, so uh..." No. Screw that. That's outright rude. Let's take the catalyst, TM. TM is a brewer. Damn good one. If I went to visit TM and said "Hi I know everything about brewing, so ask me your questions cause no one knows more than I do" I'm be branded, brash, arrogant, rude, and would most likely involve an altercation. On the other hand, he might believe me and ask me stuff, and I make up half assed answers to what he's genuinely wanting to know, and I'm wrong. Well that makes both he and I look like a jackass. I don't think asking for proof was too much, maybe the way he asked was a bit blunt. Like a cop who shows up at your door. Saying "Let's see the badge, asshole" is going to rub em a lot rougher than "Could I see your badge, sir?" Not TM's style from what I know of him. The doctor didn't know TM so he resorted to my next point.

Well said, man.

Second "human ape"? wtf? What kind of snooty arrogant bastard calls people ape? That alone makes me question your status as a furry know-it-all. I'm more barbaric than TM, and I'd be offended by that. Mainly because if that was the best you could do, you're not worth talking to. The fact of the matter is you basically threw an intellectual temper tantrum, and still neither answered the questions posed to you, showed your papers, or give any other credentials. That really doesn't give you a lot of ground to stand on.

I took it as him trying to call me a Neandertal, which I'll readily admit to being.  Either way, I chose not to be offended by it.

And, on a personal note: Anyone that says they are a "master" outside of the context of possession (master of the house, the slave's master, ect.) is full of sh**. Saying you are a master says you know everything there is to know. And I can guarantee there is ALWAYS more to learn.

There's a difference between claiming to be a "master" at something and somebody else issuing you credentials to that effect based on a standardized test of your knowledge.  I'll never claim to be a master brewer on my own until I can produce certs from UCD or Siebel, which will probably be never.  I have a somewhat unique perspective on what Dr.Butt is doing here that you guys may not be aware of, however:  I've been known to offer my advice in homebrewing forums, but a fundamental difference is I never claim to be any kind of authority on the subject - I answer questions and allow the answers to speak for themselves.

As far as Dr. Butt's posts are concerned, I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that he/she is either: (1) probably young (teenager), has your typical high-school-aged person's strange sense of humor, and thinks of this as a joke; or (2) is deluded and being completely serious.

He strikes me more as a late teen (17-19) who take himself and his claims seriously, and I took that into consideration when writing my responses.

Yeah--I was originally going to say 16-18, but decided I couldn't possibly go wrong with the more general "teenager." I mentioned "high-school-aged" to imply your usual sophomore, junior, or senior students who get their laughs from crude jokes at the expense of others.

I was about to apologize to anyone over the age of 45 out there for that very reason...however, I don't know why people get offended by that label, I'm well-aware that I'm going to be "old" one day. It's a fact of life.

Am not!  >.>

Really all depends on what personality in TM's head is talking though now that he is out off ffxi i haven't heard that voice in a while.
Glad to be of Service.

Either that or he could be one of those teenagers that tries to get acceptance from others by trying to look important or something.

Although I think this thread is about to die because it doesn't look like he's going to come back at all. :P  If he wont share his papers, or even come here and type something new up (If you've been studying something for a decade, you could easily pull something out of your head) then no one will believe what he says.

Unless I'm wrong, the only thing he's ever said when offering his knowledge was "ask me questions and I'll answer them" but really, anyone can do that.  I could ask TM there "How was anthropomorphization of animals used in history?" and he could easily pull up a few Wikipedia pages, Google some sites, visit a forum or two talking about the subject, and write up an entire paper about it and pose as some sort of expert.  That seems to be all Dr. Butt is capable of doing, answering questions through research, otherwise he could at least come up with a few topics on his own that he could talk about.  Even then we'd never know if he actually knew the stuff or was just looking it up, but it still looks a lot better than "I'll only share what I know if you ask me specific questions."

Okay, time to expose what we know about the good Dr.Butt.

His YouTube profile says Dr.Butt is 22 years old.  That fits with the perception that we're getting from his posts here.  I'm certainly more inclined to believe that age than his MySpace profile, which claims he is 99 years old and lives "Between Alaska, Florida, Montana, Colorado, Colorado, United States."  He lives, in fact, in Trinidad, CO.

And that's it.  His presence seems to be limited to MySpace, YouTube, this site, and the occasional deleted question asking about him on Yahoo! Answers (oh, I also found his bare-bones tv.com account.  Certainly no trace of his "years of research" are to be found anywhere on the internet.  In fact, none of the accounts for his "anthro-pologeist" persona have existed for more than 2 years.
