VIRUS spreading through MSN Messenger!

One of my wife's contacts sent her a file containing an unknown virus today.  Turns out that the virus sent itself to her through her friend's MSN contact list and AVG didn't catch it when she opened it.  This means it's a very new virus that isn't in AVG's database yet.  I'm working on killing the bug manually now, but if you happen to be on my MSN list and I'm online (I won't be until I'm sure this bug is dead), DON'T ACCEPT ANY FILES WITHOUT ASKING WHAT THEY ARE FIRST!!  I saw one try to send itself through Trillian earlier with some stupid message talking about "thinking of posting this pic on MySpace"...anybody who knows me would have some red flags pop up on that one: I'm a pretty well known MySpace hater.

/sigh.  I hate Windows....

Windows is sloppy, horrid code, but without Microsoft the computer industry wouldn't be where it is.  If you think that Linux or Mac is more secure, you are right, but only because it's uncommon for someone to write a virus that attacks 2-10% of the market unless they have a specific target.

If you think about a virus like this one, someone either intentially infected friends or someone accpeted a pic from a stranger.  Both are human issues, not computer issues...  I mean, holy crap...

ha! i laugh at viruses! military computers are the coolest ive ever owned ^_^

TB's of memory CPU out the wazu (same with ram) and more secure then the Air Force One. love it ^_^ i can play WoW, quake 4, Second life, and portal while downloading 100GB of gay/strait/bi yiffy and seeding 200 GB of other things and if there is a virus around my computer more than likely ill get a box saying if i would like to destroy it fast or the fun way ^_^
