Just FYI:  I am  pasting a press release that will hopefully appear in the ADN in the next week or so.  I hope we will have a big showing of MCC folk and hopefully we will have people who are seeking information about being Christian and Gay.  Focus on the Family is coming to Abbott Loop Community Church to work with families and gays to be able to "cure" homosexuality.  One of our church member's mom has already asked him to go with her to the program. Theirs will be on September 13 and costs $50 each.  Ours is FREE and will be on Thursday night, September 11 during Soul Food.  He is going to ask her to attend ours!  I hope you will come support this important event.  We will have people from PFLAG, Identity, 4-A's, ACLU, GLADD, in addition to pastors from hopefully 6-7 different denominations.  I am just waiting on confirmation. This should get us some recognition in the community and I hope those who are struggling with these issues will come and hopefully find some answers.
 
We will need greeters, people to set up, people to clean up, people to record those who attend.  If you are interested in assisting, please let me know.

Metropolitan Community Church of Anchorage, an inclusive church, with a special outreach for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered, and straight allies (GLBT), is sponsoring an Ecumenical seminar called, "God Loves You Just as You Are."  The seminar's main focus will be to assure parents of GLBT adolescents/adults and the GLBT persons themselves that God loves them just as they are.   There will be presentations by clergy about their denomination's stand on homosexuality.  In addition there will be a guest presentation by the founder of Truth Wins Out, Wayne Besen,  a non-profit organization which travels the country presenting research concerning the ex-gay movement.   The seminar will be at the Metropolitan Community Church, 7208 Dubin Avenue (corner of Oklahoma St)  @ 6:30 PM on Thursday, September 11.  A dinner ($6 donation if able) will be served at 6:30 and the presentations will begin at 7:15.  Following the presentations, members of the clergy as well as PFLAG (Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) will be available to have one-on-one discussions with participants.    For more information, go to our web site at www.mcc-anchorage.com, or contact Edie Bailey, Worship Coordinator, at 250-5005 or email edie.bailey@gmail.com.

Any body go to this? I missed going. had a few other things going on that day.
I was wondering if there was an exgay ministery here in town or if they were just passing through?
