I stumbled upon this site after an arduous search for Alaskan Furries. I came upon an old live journal post that had a link to here!

what kinda furry am i...hmmmm. Well i dont have a persona yet, but ive always been drawn/related to the arctic fox, have alot of dreams where i am one.

I really digg the art, and the whole fursuit part of it. I've always wanted a fursuit i think it would be fun to wear around.

Im really digging the message boards, anyone going to Aurora-Con this year? Do you have meetups?

and on a ranting side note, whats with the gay stereotype that gets put on furries? Just because im a dude and i digg furries doesnt make me gay. Does anyone here get that alot?

Wrong audience to ask.  Out of all the furries on this web site, I can only think of two who aren't gay.

Hey, Rocketeer.

"and on a ranting side note, whats with the gay stereotype that gets put on furries? Just because im a dude and i digg furries doesnt make me gay. Does anyone here get that alot?"

No, liking furries doesn't make you gay.  If you like online comics, check out  http://2kinds.com/  for awesome anime-style straight-main-character furriness.

I think the perception of furries=gay got started because if a person is open minded enough to realize that they're into ANYTHING unusual, they're being more honest with themselves than most.
Think about it.
How many straight, non-magically inclined, non-furry, (etc.) people have really sat down and ASKED themselves what they really liked instead of simply adopting societal norms?

When a major difference like being into furries presents itself, it forces you to look at yourself 'outside the box', and so you're more likely to notice what ELSE might be different about you.
Heavy-duty spirituality, near-death experiances, overcoming an addiction, and extreme forms of military training can have similar effects.

Another reason for the stereotype furries=gay might be the hairy-chested 'bear' metaphor (see: the Mr. Bear Contest), and the Russian slang of calling a gay top a 'wolf' (See: Luna Park, by Pavel Lungin).

On the other hand, Jack London and his wife toured the wreckage of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, and in the words of Charmaine London:

"Mate and I spent night in burning streets,'' she wrote, "terrific experience. Napped on a doorstep till dawn.''

Good luck with your fursuit.

Aside from Oni, Hakata, Rory, Ben and myself included I don't know very many gay furries. I know e621.ne and furaffinity are chock full of gay furry art, but most artists are either sexually tolerant or willing to experiment and reach new audiences.

As with any alternative scene, you're bound to find a couple gay guys and women digging the sights.

had you said "All Furries ARE Gay and that chaps my heterosexual arse" then we'd be on you like stink on rice.

Artic fox hmm, that's  wicked, think I only know two people who like foxes now... *counts*.. yah two... and a zillion different type of cats.. .. So that's  pretty cool. I think its great you share an open mind, and are willing to expand that, not many people have the courage to do so. .... and on a side note.. I know oni is going to hit me for this one... can dragons be furries?.. because if that's  true....that would be awesome.. then again I am sure there is no guidline to it..

Meowmix,
Ya there is the Dr. Butt thread you could read. But there is also What is Furry . I think out of all the places I have scene online that thread covers alot of it, but not all of it. I would love to get more peoples opinions and thoughts on it, even the parts that I, and others. Left out.

There are a few Straight Furries on this site. Badinage I know is one of them.

Besides we all know that Straight Furries are just a myth, they are just one beer from being a Gay Furry. LOL *teasing*

If you came off as a Biget TM would have called you on that. He tends to enjoy things of that nature.

I know oni is going to hit me for this one... can dragons be furries?.. because if that's  true....that would be awesome.. then again I am sure there is no guidline to it..

Ummm I don't you . YOu might want to ask our Resident Dragon that question. Inky were are you? ... OR maybe look at the comic. LOL.

Glad to be of Service.

I Know Inky is a Dragon, but that doesnt answer the question.. So if I wanted to be a fairy, like bell or a robot like Grr(Invader Zim) I could?.... but.. Dragons, Fairies and Robots arent furry.. so how can they be furries..?.. *Ish confused*

Well with the amount of fags in the fandom I would surmise that being a fairy or a apple wouldn't be to hard.

Dragons fall under the scally part of the fandom and dolphins under the water mamals and htere are also spider furries.

Furry is an idea....oh bloody well go read the thread about what is furry. LOL
