what kind of standards would you hold a community leader to?
« on: 2007, April 11, 12:32:40 am »
Lately I have been wondering what would be the "standard" that people would hold me or other community leaders to.

For example- when I joke, be silly, have a few drinks- do people feel I am being a bad example.

Do people think I should be acting "holy" all the time?

Do people I spend time with who are from the church/youth group think I act out of line sometime?

Just a thought- let me know what you think- and please be kind ;D
I am designing myself to speak only love, teach only love, breath only love.

LMAO, I honestly think the way you act is just fine by me- be yourself. Don't try or be someone you are not. You are you, so be happy. ;D For me, I see you first as a person just like anyone else then a pastor. Just because you are a pastor doesn't you have to be anal about the way you act and associate yourself with. I liked for who you are after the first time meeting you. If that is yourself, then stay there and don't change for no one. Hope that helps.

Mr. Johnathan Jones I presume. It is a very good to meet you. What kind of standard to I hold you to. Well I hold you to the standard of Being a HUMAN. My dear friend that is why I follow you, and aid in your goals. Because you are a real person, that is why I attend, and listen to what you have to say. That is why I hold you as a very close friend. You show that you can be serious when needed, and can have a good time. “Treat each moment with the seriousness that it disirves.” I don’t know if some one said that before me, but I like to think of it as my saying. Any way, no one can do that perfectly, some better than others. And I think that you do that rather well.

I feel that you should not lead a group if it comes at the cost of your self, and who you are, you should not lead that group, because then you are not the leader they want you to be. The fact that you can joke, and enjoy a drink, shows that you can be a real person. I would much rather follow a real person, then a fake who only puts on the show he feels the public wants to see.

What is “Holy?” You are not a God, therefore you can not be Holy all the time. I am sure even God understands that we are not perfect, after all he did create us. Gave us freedom, and the ability to have a good time.

A leader con “move” the people, and can help guide them down the trail in life they want to go, but can’t find the way.
Well my form out “Out of line” is to act with out respect for others, to go out of your way to hurt people. I do not believe you have done any of that. You help to keep the Youth Group on topic, and keep a sense of control in a group that is some times needed.

Your as a person/leader and how you have effected me. Well you have given me a direction, and way of helping people, and through that a way for me to vent my stress at times. Also you have given me 3 white hairs. (I blame you for them). You have given me a way to bring balance to something that I think is rather chaotic, though it will take me a bit of time, I do have a plan. You, being no more than a real person, have lead me in a direction, that will allow me to help more people, and be a better father.

Though with the role of leadership comes responsibility, and that is to the people you lead. But it does not matter how you lead them, as long as they like how you do it.

“You are what you are. You are your own special creation. So we will give you the hook or the ovation.”
Glad to be of Service.

A community leader,

Well that would depend on the community - but any leader at the min must at least adhere to his own rules or at least must try to follow them.

Other than that a leader must be themselves.
