READ BEFORE POSTING!
« on: 2009, March 03, 12:52:35 pm »
Here at AKC, we encourage a wide array of people to post their feelings and comments, whatever comes to mind. It doesn't matter your race, religion, sexual orientation or gender. All are welcome to post, at any given time.

However this is a point/counterpoint thing. Meaning any point you make, people are welcome to:

1) Correct you.
2) Apply rules and logic to your posts.
3) Speak from their own personal experience.
4) Freedom of Speech is protected here.

This is the way of things. And that's how it will always be. If you get insulted and leave, then no hard feelings, and you are welcome back at any time.

You must understand, that because there are such a wide array of viewpoints on here, many will disagree with you. That cannot be helped. People here are open minded, but they will put your arguments to the test. The best thing you can do is explain in more detail, or provide evidence. If you can not do either, then let the topic die. And bring it back after you can.

Being polite and respectful is encouraged. However certain hot button topics may spark heated debate, and that politeness or respect may be ignored. This is fine as long as it does not get too derogatory. The posts are not meant to be personal against community members, either. Even if it seems to be. We do have an Admin and Mods so all posts are read. And any deemed inappropriate will be removed without warning.

Thank you for your time.

I think one way to sum it all up is to use common sense when using the forum.  I think it's silly to post your opinions on the Internet and get upset when people don't agree with you.  This forum is meant to be used for discussion between people of many different backgrounds, not people that only share the same beliefs and more or less agree on everything.

Here at AKC, we encourage a wide array of people to post their feelings and comments, whatever comes to mind. It doesn't matter your race, religion, sexual orientation or gender. All are welcome to post, at any given time.

Eternimus states it perfectly.  We welcome anyone here, but people that will get upset when someone disagrees with them may not feel comfortable here.

Re-set the sticky flag on the OP in this topic.  Thanks for incorporating my suggested changes, Eternimus.

These rules aren't set in stone, we're still drafting them and the OP in this topic is subject to change as we finalize the edits.  If you have suggestions for additions into the rules, feel free to post them in this topic.  This thread won't be locked until we feel that the rules have reached their final form.

Oh, Fox?  Common sense ain't so common any more, which is what prompted Eternimus to write this thread in the first place.  ;D

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions just not their own facts.

Was common sense ever common and from whose perspective are we speaking of, did somebody get their feelings in a twist?  Or did they think they were right until someone else did mind a little opposition?

And are these guidelines truly rules, or more sense of reality?  Not realism mind you, reality...nothing written here would seem to have the command necessary for etching.  Perhaps the paper it's written upon could be held down with a stone...no more.

Where can this tiff be found?  How was it worthy of the current reaction?  You know, another "contents may be hot" signage on the coffee of life.  While I admit my curiosity, I am concerned about any exchange that would require the notification of all members.  I've just begun and wouldn't want to fall behind on the current.

Speaking of facts, here's an interesting one.  Most facts are in fact something someone heard from someone else and nobody knows where the research was done... that's what I've been told anyways...

Is that a fact....?

How about the that statistic that 90% percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

There must be honesty when someone is trying to post a heart felt opinion though.  Feelings and emotion change to often to be considered facts if even for the moment.  For sure facts can change also, but that's often by small degrees not total reverse or anything so extreme.

Now the poster with the tiff seemed to be mistaking a heartfelt want of universal tolerance for truth.  Then suffered for the lack of foundation.  Facts have foundations, foundations crumble, but slow.

The thread I posted is from an author who wants to address the twisting of the term, to remain concise definitions must have stability.  For unlawful carnal knowledge, means just that even when abbreviated.

tl;dr

but i am sure the OP has a good point.

I changed my mind:

If you're going to add a reply to a discussion, at least have the courtesy to read the topic before doing so.  The common shorthand of "tl;dr" translates into "i'm an ignorant asshole" to people like me and Eternimus, and people who post that kind of nonsense are going to be treated accordingly.

has no one ever told you before...? common sense isn't common anymore, fox.
