And you're right: it's a question of quantity, but also a question of exercise.  If you're up and moving around, doing work or whatever, drinking beverages or eating foods that contain HFCS isn't a bad thing.  How common is that, though?  This is the reason why guys whose sole recreation is swilling Mountain Dew and playing MMORPGs are turning into chair-filling blobs.

Now, I'll admit that I like my energy drink sodas as much as anyone else.  But when I buy them, I usually choose one that doesn't contain HFCS: Bawls if I can find it, Red Bull otherwise.  Both use glucose instead of HFCS.

Going back to the question of quantity: remember, HFCS isn't just used in sodas.  Start reading labels, that stuff is in everything - a point driven home quite poignantly by this guide.
