Greetings. Out of curiosity, I searched around for an Alaskan fur site which directed me to an LJ group, which directed me toward here. I'm going to be joining the Alaskan community in September (coming soon, damn x.x) in Valdez, which I would be amazed if the town has any furries being so remote :)

So a bit about me for those who are curious.

I'm straight, though GLBT obviously doesn't bother me much else I wouldn't be posting on the internet :P I've been in the fandom since 1998, though I didn't officially think of myself as a furry until sometime in 2000.  I come from the upper midwest, so I'm going to be used to hundreds of inches of snow, but the earthquakes and 3 hours of daylight are definitely going to be interesting  ;) I've been to a few cons but don't fursuit or do much else in the realm of LARP, though my friends and I used to do some WW: Apocalypse, which was fun. I really like the outdoors but winter has kind of been my "hibernation" season, though I imagine that will have to change considering this is Alaska heh heh.

Well, I always thought the idea of anthro characters was rather awesome, and they sparked my imagination a lot more than say, GI Joe, Superman, and the like. I liked role playing as an animal when I came across RedwallMUCK and furryMUCK, and it kind of led from there are far as furry is concerned (in the most broadest sense).

As for what I'll be doing in AK. I'm going to help monitor the distance learning systems for the U of AK system while creating various online, 3D platforms which will hopefully allow students to take courses online in an interactive, 3D environment, versus traditional 2D web spaces. Kind of a weird IT/graphics thing :)

Well, as a chat room, probably not very good ;)  ???

As a 3D lab with programmable, transferable water temps, workable towel and equipment dispensers, safety alarms, toggled object sensors, and dynamic microscopic displays, it's decent :P
