So, I'm posing a question for all you Elysians out there.  Have you had to deal with groups of Asmodeans coming to your areas and camping out around quest NPCs, mauling any unsuspecting Elysian that comes by?

I had that situation happen the other night with a group of Elysians surrounding a quest mob I needed to return to to get my level.  Maybe I'm weird, I have no problems with Elysians raiding Asmodean areas (or vice versa), running through as a group and taking down anything they find, but I personally think that camping next to a quest mob is a real dick move. :P  Although it did make it easier to be invited into a pick-up group to beat those losers down (we pwned 'em baaaaad), since we were all trying to get to the same mob, it was still irritating to see them just sitting there, waiting for people.  I think it disrupts the fun of the game even more than being jumped and killed while fighting mobs.

Not trying to complain though, because once we had a group to fight back with, it was pretty fun, I just think that holding up solo players' progress is mean, not fun.

Most MMO players are inherent DOUCHEBAGS that like to piss people off. They get a face to do it with, and it isn't their face, and a captive audience. So they unleash a torrent of abhorrent behavior, and that recruits others like them. It's an incurable disease. Dr. John Gabriel did extensive research on the subject several years ago, and hit theory holds true to this very day. Let me cite some of his findings.

As you can see from the linear flowchart, it's a very precise formula, and has never proven false. There are people with this epidemic in every corner of the world, usually living in their parents' dimly lit basement wishing they could find a girlfriend that wasn't made out of polyester or latex.

Yeah, that kind of ganking from groups of Asmodians is common on the Elysian half of things.  What you're not realizing, because you haven't reached that point yet, is that they're trying to complete a #quests]series of quests that require them to go over to Asmodae/Elysia and kill other players.

Yes, there are quests that require players to be douche bags to the other faction.  What a world, huh?

Yeah... I don't think they thought their quests out too well from a player-interaction perspective.  In the game world, it makes sense, you get a quest to be a douche and hunt out people of the opposite faction, but realistically, it just promotes annoying behavior that will chase some players away from the game.

I mean, as a priest class, I got a quest from Priest Trainer to resurrect "100 fallen comrades" with my Raise ability (yeah, I use FF terms sometimes too, lol).  I understand that, at least in the case of assassins, others get a similar quest that requires using Rez Stones to bring up, what, 10 people?

But it makes less sense for me to have that quest because I would benefit more from standing by and watching people die, then quickly resurrecting them, rather than heal them during battle (aside from when fighting Elysians of course, or in groups), which I'm more than capable of doing.  My only other options seem to be getting into a bad group that dies a lot, or looking for random dead people (which are only people that have died while AFK because active players typically don't wait around for a random Raise, they'll respawn in most cases).

Again, from an in-character perspective, it makes sense, I'm a healer, I should be resurrecting dead comrades right?  But I think it also runs the risk of douchebag players deciding to let people die rather than heal them.  I think a more reasonable quest would be like "Heal 100000 points of damage on other players" or something.  It just kinda sucks to not be able to complete this simple quest in a reasonable amount of time because I'd rather be nice and help random people than do a quest for my own benefit...

Well...it's a Korean game.  What did you expect? ::)

On the subject of douchebag ganking of the opposing faction, I learned today that Rifts - one-way gateways to the other half of the shattered planet - randomly appear every 2 hours in level 20+ zones.  I spent the night trying to find one so that I could go over to Asmodae and hunt Oni and Fox some Shade Arachnae that I need to kill for a quest.  Never found a rift, but I did get ganked a couple of times by rampaging Asmodians.

Then helped gank a few myself when they tried to attack the fortress I respawned at.

Good times! ;D

Just remember, when you go Fox hunting, bring a friend or be really prepared.  One-on-one, Chanters are a bitch to kill and Gladiators are pussies. >:D

Buuuuut ganged up on Chanters fall quicker than Tarutaru BLMs that can't manage their hate. D:

I'm just glad you're not a ranged-class, I'm starting to get pissed off at Elysian Rangers and mages.  They'll find perches outside that are difficult to get up to (from what I can tell, you have to fly up in the fortress and hope to be able to glide in) and they'll stay up there, mostly picking off players that have gone afk while being safe from nearly any retaliation.  If someone on lower ground tries to hit 'em with ranged attacks, they just move out of range for a moment and move back in.  It's actually pretty irritating.  I'm sure if there are similar spotsin Elysian areas, there are probably Asmodean ranged players that do the same thing, but either way I think it's a cowardly tactic.  I really think they need abilities for non-ranged players that will pull other players to them in situations like that. <.<  Or just get rid of perches like that, or make them slightly more accessable (taking 2+ minutes just to get up to the nearest one is a pain).

Keep talkin' smack, man. ;D  I had a decent size party ready to head over there with me, but the damn Rift never opened.  So, I went off and completed some other quests that I'd been sitting on, made a new friend out of a Templar who happened to be doing the same quests, and got ninja-ganked by an Asmodean Assassin that came out of nowhere and took me down before I even knew what was happening.

Good times last night, definitely. ;D

I still haven't even figured out where rifts open, I keep seeing messages when I log in in certain zones, but have no idea where to even look.

Although I'm like, 1/3 or so of the way to level 25, so I'll be able to go to the Abyss then, so if anything I can get some sweet PvP action there. >:D  I'd probably be 25 by now, but spent a while grinding in one area, without realizing I had another area to get quests in.  Plus the homework lately has been keeping me occupied...  But on the good news, I no longer have to worry about Sudoku problems!  I have a program that solves them for me! :D

I do too. It's called "left frontal lobe" works wonders, actually.

Now I'm going to go into Aion and level so I can perch-snipe Fox.  ;D

Well yeah, that's the fun way of solving Sudoku problems, but considering my assignment was to make a program that could find the correct solutions, I kinda have this Sudoku-solver now, that I'll never use. :P

Anyways, Aion update, I just hit level 25 today!  Made my way to the Abyss, it's pretty cool I think, although I've only just gone through the basic introductory quests.  It sounds like it could be fun... but I can also see there being problems considering a large amount of the Aion community seem to be douchebags that wouldn't know how to work together on a large scale, lol.  Not really sure how a legion of four players would work out in large Abyss conflicts. :(

Either way, I'm excited though.  At the very least it's a new area with new quests that'll give a nice boost of experience for a level or so, lol.

Yeah, the Abyss is pretty awesome.  But, after having had my ass handed to me by rampaging bands of Asmodian gankers, then visiting the Broker to look at weapon prices, I've decided to put some time into weaponsmithing to see if I can't get myself a better spear to gank fags defend myself with.

Finally found an open Rift to Asmodae last night and partied up with a couple other Elyseans who passed through the same Rift to work on the same quests I was doing.  Even without Eternimus to back me up, it took an entire party and a couple higher level blackwings to halt our rampage. ;D

I even took a couple glamor pics!

Same here, but no worries, when I put my mind to it I burn through XP on games like it's water through a colander, so don't worry Oni and Fox, I will be helping TM murder you repeatedly soon enough.
