Magic: the Gathering

Who all here plays MtG?  I started collecting MtG cards back when I was 7 or 8 when I first saw booster packs at a video rental store and asked my mom to get me some because I thought the artwork was cool, not even realizing they were for a game.  It wasn't until a few years later that I actually played the game, and wasn't until a year or so ago that I had the opportunity to play regularly.

Does anyone that comes to the Friday meets play?  If so, maybe we could play a few games sometime.  I have lots of cards and like, 20-ish different decks or so, although unlike some people, I haven't invested a lot of money into my decks.  A large portion of my collection came from either Bosco's little card dispenser or large card lots from eBay that are typically only commons and uncommons.  I still think I manage to get some good decks even without really expensive cards though.

One of my favorite decks that I play is my blue/green "graft" deck, which focuses on, of course, creatures with the Graft ability (typically 0/0 creatures that come in to play with so many +1/+1 counters on them, that can be moved to other creatures as they're summoned).  I also like my blue/black "mill" deck, that wins by destroying an opponent's library rather than their life total.

Anyways, if anyone else plays, maybe we could compare decks or play sometime.  It might be fun. :D

Is that the game were people sit around and use magic to summon the devil? I will not have any part in that.
Glad to be of Service.

I'm sure you could summon devils... but I think they're mostly called "demons."  ...Or you can summon wizards, faeries, dragons, Grizzly Bears ("Happy Bears!") all sorts of things. :D

I used to play, and still have fond memories of some of my favorite decks..Ponza, Pandeburst, Tinker decks, Tolarian Blue, Necropotence, Squee decks..the list goes on. Unfortunately, I lost interest in the game after Mirrordin came out, and quickly sold my collection for a decent sum. I'm still interested in older (Anything older than the new card format) drafts or sealed events..or, if nothing else, digging through a pile of old commons and putting something interesting together.

I'll post a bit more later, when my brain isn't quite so fatigued.

This used to be a fairly prominent misconception, but the game in no way used any magic of any sort in order to do things that they shouldn't be doing. The name of the CCG is simply a moniker of the fantasy theme used for the game itself (in my opinion, at least). Just my 2 cents.
