Recently it has been brought to my attetion that some people are in favor of furmeets and FurCons because it localizes Furries into one spot were they might drop a bomb and take care of them all at once. This made me stop and think. Why are furries hated so? why is it that people insist on perating them with insults and jokes at there expence.

"It's because you Dress up as Animals and Yiff." I have heard. Wait we can't make love if we are furry, or are we only limited to the imagination of some one who does not understand our view points on it? I mean Come on. I know "Normal" "Mundain" People who like to dress up and yiff* Whats the difference between Langeray, a French Made outfit, Leather, Leather Dog Suit, Dressing up as Luke or Lea, or maybe Xena Warrior Princes and going to down on your partner. Ya it's all weird and Funny. But it's sex supose to be anyway. It's a fun act. So why not enjoy it.

*roles eyes* I always love this one. "Hay weirdo whats with the tail?" to witch I respond "Hay mundane, whats with the jacket?" or whats with your hair or makeup, or what ever I choose to pick on in return. Just Because we dress differently and present our selfs differently doesn't mean we are any different than a White Guy, than a African, or an Asian, an Indian, or a Fruit or a Fag, a Goth, or a Prep. We are but simply expressing ourselfs in the way we feel comfortable doing. Why do you wear a Ghote? Is it because your too lazy to shave? or you want to make some kinda fashion statement? Or is it simply an extention of yourself that your body can naturaly produce. Were as with Furries like many others, we have to build or create, style and envoke our inner being to shine through to the outside for others to see and so we can present our selfs as we are.

"Furries are just freaks that do it with animals".... Oh come off it. I would just like to clearify something. THAT is not a furry thing. that is a thing all in its own. Something weird and it's own subculter. Has nothing to do with Furry. "You dress up as animals so you want to do them" No I want to do a guy in a Fox suit. there is a difference.  *sigh*

"Furries are just people who want to connect with there inner child and feel young and inocent again." ? WHAT mind analizing freak came up that this is a furry thing only. I know lots of people that do that. They do so in there own ways and normaly because they have more deeper emotional issues than being furry or emo or goth or a fruit.

"Furries are just ugly people that can't get anything unless they cover there face"... Okay! Gotta agree with that on the most part. Most furriers need a fursuit to cover themselves. This I agree with. Some of us though were bless with very Hot and sexy looks and don't need to cover ourselves. But the rest of the furry community. HELL ya cover that sh** up. .... Okay that goes for people who are not furry as well. Put a mask on for Yiffs sake if you are going to go out in public.

If you think Furries are weird, then you really need to open your eyes to the rest of the world out there. In reality Furries are normal people, people you most likly know every day, and you have no idea they are furry. They are just as weird or as normal as anyone else.

Just be thankful that every time you see a K9 Furry he doesn't run up and hump your leg. think of that the next time you see one of us. It could be worse we could be comming after you.

Now don't get me wrong there are some furries who should just build there fursuits with razor blades built right in the insides of the wrist on there suit so when they put it on... well you get the idea. Course the same could be said for alot of people. lol.

Alright, fine, I'll take the flamebait and post this little bit for you to prognosticate upon:

"Mundaines," no matter how you label them or how they "express" themselves, all have in common the fact that they are perfectly happy to be homo sapiens sapiens.  "Furries," by dressing up in ears/tails/doublepenises are expressing that they want to be something other than homo sapiens sapiens.  The reason they are viewed as being abnormal by "mundaines" is simply because the "something other" that they want to be is an animal.  Anyone else who has any kind of ambition usually aims to be someone higher up on the social ladder, not lower down on the food chain.

So, the bottom line is: furries are freaks not because they dress funny, but because their great ambition is to be a lower life form.  If you dress up like and act like an animal, and it's not Hallowe'en, you're not impressing anyone but the other weirdos in the minority you form a community with.  The rest of us "mundaines" just assume - quite naturally, based on all available evidence - that you're all mentally ill, and treat you accordingly.

It wasn't all that long ago that something that walked like a duck, quacked like a duck, but looked like a person would have been institutionalized. 

I miss those days.

The above pretty sums up what is wrong with our society. I'll be crazy now, and everyone else can go back to the age where fursuiters might be institutionalized for being weird while everyone else is prescribed Drano mixed with honey to treat the common cold. Good old-fashioned 1800s medicine.

You shouldn't concern yourself with what others say, Oni. The highest aspiration of people today seems to become a talking head amongst many in the media to opine for the attention of this Nation's autistic masses. In order to get that kind of attention, you have to say things that are completely insane  And they spew such things only because they can remain anonymous. If someone actually comes into your house and says down with furries, then you have a problem. But guns are legal in Alaska, so it wouldn't be your problem for very long. You will still be furry and they will be in the hospital getting ready for prison, assuming you didn't aim for their head

Furries are definitely weird, though. They don't mind the idea of being an animal for /fun/. Whereas the human populace at large goes to insane lengths to believe that we, as a species, are not animals at all but some chosen species who will evolve into beings of light, with wings to fly up into the heavens where we will sing songs on clouds all day. We'll all have houses of gold and jewels, too! That's not just weird. That's fucked up Whether your "mundane," "furry," "Christian," "Aethiest," "Cosplayer," "Professional," humanity is just fucked up plain and simple. If people stopped pretending otherwise, the world would be a better place--or at least a more realistic place.

I didn't read the whole post cuz I'm tired and lazy BUT, I have ALWAYS had a fear of furcons/anime cons because of terrorists.  I've dealt with true "haters" (Anonymous), they spammed a site I used to go to and sent death threats over the phone to the owner and several of the people on there.

It's scary stuff.  Anime used to be hated a lot more too, and now EVERYone likes it.  I mean everyone, like, even old people. 

So anime cons don't concern me anymore, just furcons.  Idk why people hate furries so much, it's redonkulous.  I don't take trolls seriously, but some people are insane and way scarier than just internet trolls, it's why I don't suit in public as often.  I don't mind being made fun of, but I am afraid of actually getting hurt. 

I think people also like to beat up people in mascot suits, I've seen it on shows before (like America's home funniest videos, one guy got arrested for beating up an Easter Bunny person on one show).

Most of the furries I know believe that they share personality traits with said animals, and maybe adopt some of the actions or quirks and idiosyncrasies of said animal... But I don't think a singular furry actually believes that they are becoming/will become/are the animal they dress up as.

Do you see someone with crazy hair and think they're mentally ill? It's not really a good assumption to ever look at someone and assume they are anything other than a normal human being. Furries are some of the nicest, most accepting people that I've met, so I can look past the fact that some of them are a little weird. Hell, one of the first times I went over to Oni's he took everyone at the house out to sushi - so I don't really care if he's mentally ill, he can be a nice guy (sometimes).

@ Ike ~ People DO hate goths and scene kids.  I knew of one girl who got beaten to death by a bunch of (sober) college kids just cuz she was a "goth".  Her boyfriend tried to help and they beat him up too.

I've been bullied a whole lot verbally and a little bit physically because of how I wear my hair, makeup, and piercings.  I'm so sick of close minded people.  I understand everyone has something they think is "weird".  But that doesn't mean you should take it out on the people...  That's immature.  But it used to happen every time I left the house.  D:

Sorry, went off subject.  I don't let those people bring me down but it's annoying as hell because I just don't understand them.
