Big Gay Oni's Big Gay Ale

For those of you that had it last year.
BIG GAY ONI's BIG GAY ALE
Shall return this year.
This year we are doubling the batch, because you all consumed it like it was liquid gold.
And since it was such.
This year House Kitsune can't afford to float the bill on our own. So We have to ask for donations so that we can all enjoy, consume, and float a 10 gallon Keg of Big Gay Ale.
For every dollar donation that is made House Kitsune will match.
Our favorite and best brewer/bartender will be brewing this awesome concocktion of hopy goodness.
Donations can be turned in at Furmeets, and at AKC parties, or you can contact me to make arrangements.
We only need 180, so that's  90 bucks from all of you. Every dollar that goes in after that goes as a tip to our awesome brewmaster TMAK as a tip for his awesome  brewing capabilities.

It's me again!  I'm here to address a concern that was sent to OniC@ via e-mail.  Here's the message in question:

Let's nip this one in the bud before it gets out of hand, shall we?  Yes, it's illegal to charge money for homebrew.  That means that if I - the homebrewer - require you - the drinker - to pay me $5 before I'll hand over a bottle of whatever beer I've brewed, I'm breaking the law.  Why?  Because Big Brother hasn't gotten his tax cut from that $5, that's why.

This e-mail is implying that OniC@ is charging his friends for homebrewed beer, and nothing could be further from the truth.  For one thing, the beer in question does not exist yet.  OniC@ is asking for help (donations) to pay for ingredients.  If he were asking you to help pay for the steaks he's going to barbecue for you at his next get-together, would you have concerns about legality?  Of course not!  This is no different.  Malt, hops, water, and yeast are not federally controlled substances (read: not taxed or regulated) like alcohol is; therefore it is not illegal for OniC@ to ask his friends to help pay for them.  You are not paying for beer, you're donating to help pay for the ingredients that will be used to make the beer that you will be drinking for free.

Asking your friends to help you pay for something that they will benefit from as much as you will is about as illegal as ol' Homeless Bill up at Dimond and Old Seward with his sign begging you for money.  Yes, I mean this guy:


Until he gets arrested, I'm not going to worry about OniC@ getting arrested for begging for money to help brew some beer for he and his friends to drink.  Neither should you.

Yeah, if Cat gets arrested for anything, it'd probably be some sort of public indecency thing.  Either that or for being too Canadian.

Once again, Herman has hit it on the head (sort of). ;D  I named the beer, not OniC@.  And yes, it was a very tongue-in-cheek dig at the BGMP poster.  Good eye for catching that one! ;D

Ironically, I didn't even get to taste any of last year's batch.  Not one sip.  I was too busy serving it to everybody else.  :o

TMAK, we'll have to set aside a glass for you before anyone else gets there...
True it'll be warm and flat by the time you get to drink it...but then at least you can say you got a glass ;)

Thanks for thinking of me, Jen, but I'll live without it.  See, OniC@ asked for a gay beer, and the result was a beer that rocked a house full of gay guys.

I figure that means the final beer either tasted like penis or asshole.  Either way, they can have it all. ;D

I hope this one makes OniC@ shoot gin out his nose....
