My wife likes MMO's, but not that much. And she makes it real easy to stop playing. She'll strip or put on something sexy, and stand next to or in front of my monitor. If you ever saw my wife, you'd know how easy it would be to shut the game off after that. So there is no concern for me. I just play w/e. Tell you mate to do the same thing.

Ditto every byte of this.  Boobies > videogames every time. ;D

The benefit(?) of being a gay gamer, less time for boobies means more time for video games! :D  lol.

Just for comparison for FFXIV Eternimus, what are the basic specs on your machine?  I have:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800+ (2.51GHz)
4GB RAM (on a 32-bit Windows, so I think it's limited below that)
and an Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT

I'm wondering if a new video card would be good enough for gaming, or if I should wait for the opportunity to splurge on a new motherboard and 6-core processor. :P  As well as a new video card.

I'm happy for you. Really. More gay men means more women for my wife and I.

4GB RAM (on a 32-bit Windows, so I think it's limited below that)

Right now I'm running:

Intel Pentium (Dual Core) 2.66 ghz. Could clock it to 3.73 ghz if I wanted.
4GB RAM, I had more but pulled some to patch up another computer.
Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT

So not ~much~ higher, but enough to make a noticeable difference.

I play at like 1440*900 and medium-high settings. If I take the vid quality down, it runs smoother, still looks decent. Graphics don't matter to me, really, I care about if the game and if it sucks or not. So far, less sucking and more babying.

They need to understand that "Solo Play" doesn't mean "Gimmie Game"

Maybe I should just fork out some cash for a decent video card then...  I don't -need- extreme settings (although to be able to have at least one newer game run on high settings would be nice once in a while, lol).  I'm happy with having a smooth performance that looks decent.

Like with City of Heroes, which I'm playing currently, they introduced an "Ultra Mode" (which is a nifty graphics update) and my computer can handle the lower end of "Ultra Mode" with a second monitor and other things going on, but I tend to keep it on the recommended settings (not even using Ultra Mode) to have the game run smoother.

It would be nice if my first experience in the game was all "ooh" and "aah" about how nice the game looks, but realistically when I'm playing it, I doubt I'll notice.  The only time lower graphics settings in games bother me is when it interferes with playing the game, like in Fallout 3 where lower settings cause enemies to only show when they're really close.  It sucks being shot at by raiders you can't see (unless you go into VATS mode to find them) just because your settings are low.  It also makes manually sniping a problem. Your CPU and your OS are the bottlenecks you need to fix first, Fox.  Installing 4GB of RAM in a system with an OS that can only utilize 3GB is kinda silly, especially considering you have the 64-bit processor required to run a 64-bit OS.

Yeah I'm actually looking into getting set up with 64-bit Windows 7 here soon, now that I got money from financial aid.

What's wrong with the CPU though?  Well other than newer stuff being a lot better that is, lol.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with your CPU, I just said it was more of a bottleneck than your GeForce 8600 video card.

I actually run 32-bit Windows 7 currently and am just lacking a disk to install 64-bit Windows 7.

It's good to see you back on the site, I thought TMAK may have scared you off with his GCI rant, lol.

I'm excited, I have a class this semester that goes into parallel programming and such.  This should be fuuuuuuun.

Oh and whenever I get the money, I'm definitely wanting to get a new MB and CPU... maybe graphics card too, if I'm rich or find good deals.  I needs me some game speeds.

Is there some trick to it or is it just "open" or what?  I'm at their beta page where it shows the download link for the game client, but don't see any "apply" buttons or whatever.
