(Anch) PrideFest ...

The annual Anchorage PrideFest will take place this year
from June 16th through the 24th. Various events are being
organized at this time; to keep track of the full schedule,
go to http://www.anchoragepride.com. Here’s planning
specifically concerning the Parade and Parkstrip Festival,
to be held on Saturday, June 23rd.

PrideFest ‘07 Call for Parade Entries and Festival Vendors
& Performers

The PrideFest organizing committee is accepting
applications for the annual PrideFest Parade and Festival
on the Park Strip, set for June 23. If your group or
organization would like to enter the Parade, or if you’d
like to be an exhibitor at this year’s Festival, download
the application at
http://www.anchoragepride.com.  DEADLINE is June 15.

The committee is also seeking high energy performers
(musicians, vocalists, drag performers, dancers, or slam
poets) for this outdoor all-ages event. Download performer
application at above web site and submit NLT JUNE 1, so we
can put together a fabulous slate of entertainment!

In addition the GLCCA is looking for artists in the
community to display their work at the Center for one night
during Pride Week in June. They may be for display only or
for sale. We look forward to showing off our community’s
artistic talents. If you are interested, email Julie at:
dreamchasers25@gci.net.  The deadline for entries is May
16.

And more ...TALKIN’ TRASH -- Anchorage PrideFest typically
generates two
large dumpsters of waste during the five-hour Festival on
the Park Strip (June 23). This year the PrideFest committee
hopes to cut that amount in half by partnering with Green
Star to recycle plastic & aluminum. Green Star will provide
marked bins for collecting recyclables, but we must provide
the labor to sort and deliver recyclables to Anchorage
Recycling Center.

We've done the homework and have the details, and we need a
volunteer to serve as PrideFest Recycling Chair. If you
want to help reduce the refuse generated at PrideFest and
you have a strong back and an open-bed pickup (and a helper
or two), pls contact us at info@anchoragepride.com.  Help
us make PrideFest '07 a GREEN event!

We still need a few more volunteers for the following at
PrideFest:

** Set Up of Vendor Tables
4 or more volunteers
Saturday, June 23rd, PrideFest Day. Be at the Park Strip by
8:45 am. Description of the task: Taking the tables from the stack of tables and placing them at the marked vendor locations along with chairs.

*** Take Down of Vendor Tables
4 or more volunteers
Saturday, June 23rd, PrideFest Day. Be at the Park Strip by
4:45 pm. Description: Picking up the tables and chairs from the vendor locations and assembling them in one central location and stacking them.

**** Parade Route Marshals.
6 or 7 volunteers
Saturday, June 23rd, PrideFest Day. Be at the Parade Staging Area at 9:45 am. Once you have received your spot to stand on the parade route go there, stand and enjoy the parade as it goes by you until the last float has passed by you. Bring parade marshals gear to the Identity tables on the Park Strip.

***** Recycle Chair
You have seen the announcement about the Recycle Chair.
Saturday, June 23rd, At about 4:30 and until you drop it off at the Recycling Centers. If you have a truck/vehicle that can hold recycling bins, then we need you! If no one stands forward an takes this on we will only be doing the usual recycling that has been done the last couple of years.

So if you can volunteer some of your time and vehicle please help.
