Thoughts on Wiccas?
« on: 2011, November 14, 08:32:20 pm »
I would like to start off by saying that I am a Wiccan. I have chosen this religion for a variety of reasons, the biggest is that Wicca does not discriminate in any way, shape, or form.

I've read a lot on this religion. Is anyone curious about it? I can answer questions or even debate it a little if someone would like ^_6 I welcome all responses.

I studied and dabbled in Wiccan for a while. Not the idealogy for me. I prefer my own. I am the Cat God. :P

Though I did like Wiccan. What got you into Wiccan, or made you decide to stick with it?

I was Wiccan, then I discovered Pastafarianism.

Haha, I kid!

Although I am actually a very spiritual person, nurtured by my studies in Wicca as well as the eastern beliefs, I believe that mass religions are nothing but left over remnants of political empires still vying for ways that they can keep control.

I'm never even heard of this until just today on this thread. I wiki-ed it to briefly look it up. Doesn't look like something I'd look into as a belief...

The internet can be a truly brutal place. Kind of became atheist after about a year.

Oni: I stuck with Wicca for a few reasons. Like I mentioned, it does not discriminate for any reason. You can also join a coven or you can practice on your own. Good Wiccas do not push the religion on anyone and a covens aren't supposed to let people join unless you're 18 or over (that's to make sure it's YOUR decision, and not someone else's).

One of the greatest reasons though, is there is no "right way" to practice Wicca. If you believe that speaking Latin and bowing before a statue will make your spell work, then that's how you do it. If you think that closing your eyes and concentrating will give your spell power, then you do it that way. There is no right or wrong, you just find what you like.

TundraWolf: I don't usually trust Wikipedia for anything. If you want good information, I can only suggest going to a library and read a little on Wicca there, if you're still curious I mean :)

@Brandie

Well... I am curious still but not enough to overwhelm 200 pages of reading for my book report... I kinda procrastinated a little...
