Because I wanted to fit in and be cool.

Nah, I'm kidding.  You're right; I shouldn't have watched Saw 2.

BTW, you guys have to see "House on Haunted Hill," old-school version.  It is AWESOME.  And I bet that unlike stupid Kenai and Soldotna, we could find a copy in Anchorage.

Also, my last post came across as a bit...I dunno, self-righteous.  Those are just my opinions, and maybe I shouldn't have stated them so forcefully.  Obviously I'm not going to think you guys are sick because you disagree with me.  It's just an issue I happen to feel very strongly about.

What's the movie about? I haven't heard of it and if I did, doesn't ring a bell for me. Sounds like a horror movie.  :-\

It's a movie about this eccentric millionaire who invites five strangers to spend a night in a haunted house.  Anyone who stays all night will earn $10,000.  Good for laughs and appreciation of what "scary" was back then.  It was released in 1959.

Well I fear nothing. Nothing scares me, or anything. Hell the only game or movie that ever made me jump was Fatal Frame. The first one. The second was a bit disappointing graphically. Third I haven't tried yet. The most intereating horror movies to me, however, are psycological thrillers. Saw is a good example.

Now, people not appreciating their lives, that's not much justification to make them go through such tortures. But being a man dying slowly from a brain tumor I can understand his motive. Torture itself, I reserve for those who have tortured in one aspect or another. Such as rapists, and child molesters. I'll torture them all day long with a smile. And with my knowledge of anatomy it could be days, maybe weeks or if I'm really careful, months before they perish. And when the Jigsaw did his stuff, there was always a way to survive. You just had to work smarter, not harder. Which no one did. They did the usual. They realized bad sh** was going on, panicked and perished. But I run D&D games, second edition, and when I let my imagination go, the characters die, because people act before they think. So I admired Jigsaw. Not because he was making uncaring morons die, but rather because the way he planned everything out reminds me of alot of the things I've done in games, and the trilogy gave me many more ideas for tricks and traps. The movies ticked alot of people off, but they look at the deeds, instead of the actions and planning, the sheer criminal genius that went in to covering all the bases. Whoever wrote the script was a very sick person. Kritter, it was you, wasn't it?

P.S. House on Haunted Hill kicks ass.

I think that's what most people would do.  I know I would.  I'd love to say I'm a cool and collected person who would remain calm in a situation like that, but I'm not.  I would try to think--at least I'd do that much--but I doubt I'd be able to keep from obsessing over Certain Death.

And that girl who survived in the first movie...there wasn't really anything she had to think about.  I mean, she had to throw away her conscience and commit murder, which would be understandable in that case, but she didn't have to solve any near-impossible puzzles.  And honestly, not all of the situations looked like they had a way out--for example, the one with the guy covered with a flammable substance in the room with numbers on the walls.

P.S. Did you see the old school version or the remake?

I like a good horror film,  where i dive for cover is when there is no suspense to the scene, then suddenly a knife comes out of knowwhere and starts killing. Of course i hide my eyes during ER when it gets really bloody, ...but a war movie i can take blood, it just seeing internal organs that really gets me.

...  :o... Are you serious? God damn, you have such a weak stomach for blood. Yet, blood in war movies is fine? How odd. Well, let me make you a suggestion then, don't watch Saving Private Ryan. You won't make it for half of the movie if what you just stated is true. LMAO!!!!

War movies are great though!!! Yeah, I love blood in movies  :-*

Apocalyptical movies always seemed the most effective horrors to me. Things like 28 Days Later where their is as much problem with basic survival as with defending against zombies. Even more so in books such as Childhood's End when, after you, there'll be nothing left, what would you do? I suppose it's not 'Fear' persay, but still a rather unsettling notion.
Logic is a wonderful thing but doesn't always beat actual thought.
