Things that truly frighten you.
« on: 2007, June 23, 07:20:53 pm »
I know that everyone has fears. And I mean EVERYONE. Do not post here if you think that you are not afraid of anything, ok? What I mean by fear is not things that make you jump in movies, but real phobias.

I am afraid of not being able to see the sky and unusual cloud patterns. I don't know where it comes from. I also get scared when it's pitch black in my room. I don't like open closet doors, beds that are high off the ground and things like that.

Also HUEG spiders.

So, what is everyone here afraid of?

    I must not fear.
    Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
    I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
    Only I will remain.

Dune

For this reason I have mastered most every fear I have.

Though I do have a fear, and that is of loosing my family and my son. By what ever means that happens. I fear that, and that alone.

Other than that, I can honestly say that I don't have a fear. I have faced most everything I can. Including my own death.
Glad to be of Service.

See? EVERYONE is afraid of something. Of course we're afraid of losing loved ones. I'm not afraid to die either. But, I do admit that I fear the unknown.

Dear bloody baby jesus, I have that fear too- big spiders!!!! I don't have a problem seeing a spider from tv and in a closed box; however, if I see a big spider like here at my house I freak like no other. Oni and Foxie can belch for that. They have seem my panic/freak out mode I get. Little spiders I don't have much problem with.

A lost of a family member terrifies me deeply. I never had any direct and close family member die so I don't know how I would react when that day comes. I know the death of my mother will be tormenting for me if she dies anytime soon. *knock on wood very hard*

Another thing that scared the sh** of me is being abandon/casted out from my family and closest friend who I consider family. I had a taste of that when came "out of the closest" and it was one of the worest feeling I every experience.

Oh, another big one is the whole demon/possesion thing. *shivers* Just thinking about that is scaring me a bit. So I will end it here for now. Why, because I am at home all by myself and my imagination will scare me.

Those I can say are my biggest fears.

Ghosts. I love ghost stories and I will freak myself out reading them, to the point of losing sleep. I never outgrew being afraid of them.

I have severe social phobia; personal interactions terrify me -especially with strangers. That's partly why I'm volunteering at the center; to get a grip on that. Pridefest was excruciating for that reason, and if I hadn't been there for my friend I would have bailed out within fifteen minutes of getting there (if I even went to begin with; which is doubtful).

I'm claustrophobic, especially with cars.

I'm afraid of dying -not being dead, but dying; the loss of control and the helplessness when your life is slipping away.

I'm afraid of lots of things.  Spiders, small spaces, being kidnapped and buried alive or otherwise tortured, losing certain parts of my body--namely, one or both eyes, arms, or legs.  Losing my sight, hearing, or speech.  Being in a horrible accident that leaves me completely paralyzed.  Any sort of medical condition thatl eaves me unable to act for myself.  Losing my sight and hearing.

I've discussed several medical possibilities with my mother, and I trust her to make the right choice should I be left a vegetable or something, but it still scares me.

But more than anything I'm afraid of going to hell.  Any other thing would eventually end, if only in death.  But hell, in many beliefs, is eternal.  And that scares me.  I only have one chance--this lifetime--and if I don't believe the right thing, I could burn for all eternity.  The worst part is, I'll have no one to blame but myself if I'm wrong, and I'm terrified that I'll spend forever knowing that I could have done something.

I have some typical fears, as well as some strange, somewhat stupid fears as well.

First off, the normal-ish, more common fears.  I'm afraid of heights.  I can't even really climb a ladder most of the time, and flying on an airplane is almost impossible for me.

I also hate feeling like I'm trapped or not in control.  Another reason why flying scares me because once I'm in the air, I'm basically stuck there until the plane lands.  I don't need to be in complete control of things, but it scares me to feel completely helpless.

I'm also afraid of the dark.  Mostly what could be in the dark, not so much the darkness itself.  There are times when I'll be the only one awake at night, in mostly dark, and have to check out all over the house (mostly) to make sure no one is around.

Also afraid of losing people close to me.  Death only really scares me because of the idea of leaving behind people I care about.

I'm afraid of being over water as well.  I can't stand being on a boat, probably because I can't swim, so again with that "feeling trapped" thing.  I can usually get over this fear, mostly, but I'm always nervous.

Now for the stranger fears.  I'm afraid of suddenly being permanently blinded or deafened.  Often I wonder which sense I would prefer to lose, if I had to choose, but I usually can't.  I don't think I would be able to live my life if I were blind or deaf, so those things scare me.

This next thing mostly just creeps me out, not really a fear, just disturbing to me.  Unnaturally large mouths.  Like in movies, or even cartoons, when a person opens their mouth a lot larger than it is normally possible.  Dunno why it bothers me, it's just creepy.

#1 would be fucking up a hand or something.
If I can't continue to play the violin, life is meaningless.
To lose my hearing is #2.
If fishes were wishes the pond would be dry.
