Advisory Vote - Beat the Ban - 8pm

Many of you may be aware that a grassroots campaign is underway to defeat the "advisory vote" against "benefits for same-sex employees of the state and their partners". The group organizing the campaign is "Alaskans Together". And MCC is planning on doing our part to defeat the advisory vote. Below is the vote, and you will see how it specifically targets "same-sex partners".

Shall the legislature adopt a proposed amendment to the state constitution to be considered by voters at the 2008 general election that would prohibit the state, or municipality or other subdivision of the state, from providing employment benefits to same-sex partners of public employees and to same-sex partners of public employee retirees?
 
 
MCC has a long history and tradition of fighting for equal rights- especially for the GLBTQ community. You can begin to do your bit by attending a party on Saturday night that will be a fundraiser for the campaign. Find below the details of the party, I will be there and invite all of you to join us.

Sat, Feb 10, by 8pm. Cover and all tips will be donated to
AlaskansTogether, the grass roots group working to make
sure same-sex domestic partners have health benefits. Bring
your dancing shoes and your checkbook, 'cuz it's gonna take
more than just good looks and rock n' roll to beat the ban.
Full Circle hopes to raise a grand or so to help the fight,
and we know with righteous folks like you, we can do it!
