that's  an age old question alright.

Purrsonally I like to separate sex from foreplay. I think that anything short of anal/vaginal/oral is foreplay or just fooling around, and that the forementioned three are categorized as sex. Definition of virginity applies accordingly.

To me, the definition of "virginity" is when one has not been penetrated by another human being and/or object/animal.

As for "loosing one's virginity", that is when someone having sexual intercourse for the first time. For female, it is when "the cherry" is lost (prof of it is when she is bleeding). As for males, well that's when their penis has inserted into a pussy or ass. The whole ass virgin thing is a different thing.

Not necessarily.

Everyone defines "virginity" differently.  If someone has oral sex and no longer considers himself/herself a virgin, then we should respect that.

Also, I think too much value is placed on the concept of "virginity," especially a woman's hymen.  Some women are born without one, and some have theirs torn in activities like biking or horseback riding.

Some women don't bleed their first time, either.  Using blood as proof of a woman's virginity is totally outdated.

That is a very intresting question. I am still a virgin so i guess I woud not know what sex really is. It sems liek sex is too show the person that you love how much you love them. I think that if you really love some one you woud want to start a family with them, that does not go for every one but it does for me.

Ah, that's what makes this world go around... diversity. Glad to know and see a view point that's different than mines!

Late 20's?  Esther, you're like a year older than me.  You mean early 20's, right? :p

What about rape? If a person is raped for there first time is that considered loosing ones virginity? or what if the hymen breaks dew to what ever reason. Like my sisters broke long before she ever had sex?
and by that technality I have lost mine 3 times.

Or what about lesbian sex? Can you loose your virginity (if you are a girl) if the first time you have sex is with another girl, and there is no penatration? I hear not all lesbians like penatration...

I lost mine at 18, and again at 23.

So heres the riddle. How did I loose mine 3 times?

To me I'll still say that the person lost their virginity with or with out concent. There is "born again virgin".

To be honest, I don't know much about to nothing about the hymen. So I can't really answer that.

Hmmm, good question there. If there was no penatration, then to me, she's still a virgin. But yes, there are some lesbians that don't like penatration at all.

Nope, that's wrong. I lost my virginity on April 1st. A month BEFORE my 21st birthday.

So heres the riddle. How did I loose mine 3 times?

You count it as. 1. you put your cock inside Foxie's ass 2. Foxie put his cock into your ass & 3. ummm, you slept with a female? The 3rd one I'm not too sure.  :D

I don't personally feel that penetration is a prerequisite for "sex".

If I were pushed for my own definition, I would say that it is a high level of intimacy involving 2 or more people. And that an orgasm happens in there. Meaning that I don't think two people cuddling naked have had sex, but its certainly not limited to conventional style male-female copulation.

*nod nod* I agree with you. My view point was only sited towards the heterosexual standpoint and not really thinking about the homosexuals (when I'm homo too  :-X). I'm sure in due time my definition and view points will change and challenged.

Um, Esther?  That still means you were in your early 20's.  Generally speaking, 20-23 is early 20's, 24-26 are mid 20's, and 27-29 are late 20's.

I'd have to say Bad's definition of virginity is probably the best I've seen.  Even so, "virginity" is a social term, and one that usually leads to trouble.

I used to be obsessed with knowing if people were virgins or not, and in the end, it got me nowhere.

To me, sex would be actions that, well, when described, use the word "sex" in them.  Anal sex, oral sex, vaginal sex.  Stuff like that.  Yes, I see giving head as sex (and people who say otherwise to make their sex-partner-count lower or whatever other reason are just fooling themselves. :P) but things like mutual masturbation, while enjoyable, aren't really sex.  When a male is involved, there has to be something going in somewhere for it to be sex, but when it's lesbians... I dunno.  I'm not a lesbian so I don't know how they define sex at all.  I would assume there would need to be some sort of sexual contact between the two, but it doesn't necessarily need to be penetration.

As for "virginity" since it's been brought up, for a guy to be a "virgin," by my definition, they would need to not have had anal or vaginal sex.  Oral sex doesn't really count for losing the "virgin" title, I don't think.  And guys have, well, three "virginities" they can lose, vaginal sex, and receiving and giving anal sex.  Again, not going into the lesbian side of it because, well, I'm a gay guy, I have no idea what it's like to be a woman, nor do I know what it's like to be a lesbian. :P

Hmmm, lesbian sex. This is a tough one.

Each lesbian is different. Some like penetration while others take little to no penetration of any kind. Some prefer to see the bush while others like to see none. Some must need a strap one, while others don’t.

When it comes to lesbian sex for me, there has to be some sort of penetration whether by toys, tongue, fingers, strap-one… etc eventually during sex (mostly by the end of it). I look forward for the whole oral sex and close physical contact with the other person. Personally I think for most lesbians look for intimacy and strong emotional bond when it comes to making love; where as sex, it can be played out more roughly. Eh, lesbian sex is quite difficult define because there’s a broad view of what each will do while having/doing sex.
