I will always push Master and Commander, but that's  just my passion for sailing ships talking ^ ^

and uhm.. I guess sky captain was a fun movie, even if it did get over the top all over the end.

Thanks, Master and Commander is a good movie!

As for Sky Captain, it was good, but not worth watching more than once IMO.

Glad I could help a bit ^ ^

What's Eating Gilbert Grape - It has Johnny Depp and Leonardo DeCaprio from before they were huge. It depressing, but in a nice way.

Shaun of the Dead - Classic. It's actually clever, and has some of the best zombie filming ever.

Shaun of the Dead was a good movie, one of the best comedies I've seen.

What's Eating Gilbert Grape was really kinda boring IMO.

Yeap, my opinions exactly on those 2. Though I haven't seen Gilbert in a long time, Its just the depressing gritty-reality drama type movie that...I kinda think misses the point of seeing a movie for me personally.

Brazil (1985) Director Terry Gilliam.  I saw this movie when i was a child, when i was an adolecent, and every five years since.  And every time i watch it, i find new meaning.  Basically the main character is stuck in a mindnumbing cubicle, and he escapes into a rich fantasy world where he is an icarus type character. His real life struggles are mirrored in his fantasy life.  The are two versions of this film. The theatrical release and the Directors cut. The directors cut is more gritty and longer. The theatrical release is a shiny, happy -go lucky film. BIG DIFFERENCE.  There was also a documentary made on the film and the fight between the production company and the director Terry Gilliam.

City of Lost Children. French film, gritty.  The film is set on a grand scale. The eye-popping sets, ingenious special effects, Jean-Paul Gaultier costumes, and a must-be-seen-to-be-believed cast of characters create an overall effect that you will not soon forget. And, like the classic "The Wizard of Oz," "The City of Lost Children" delves deep into the subconscious realm of children's imaginations, and -- most importantly -- their dreams. "The City of Lost Children" harks back to traditional fairy tales, staying true to those traditions by delving into wild, sometimes dark and scary, flights of fancy...some of which speak to adults as much as, if not more than, children.

Cemetary Man (1994) (a.k.a. Dellamorte Dellamore)  Dark Comedy. An excellent brittish film.  A macabe look into the life of a cemetary keeper who burys the dead, twice.  He looses faith in the purpose of his job, and the lines between his world, the living, and the dead, become dangerously blurred.  Starring Rupert Everett.

Paprika. Japanese Anime. DVD 2006.  Incredible imagery, not a film for young children.  A mini machine is stolen from a dream therapist that can allow people to delve into the subconscious, but the dreams are going out of control and all HELL BREAKS LOOSE.  From the creators of PARANOIA AGENT, and PERFECT BLUE ,another exciting trip into the workings of the mind.

of those I have seen city of lost children and Paprika. I would recommend Paprika wholeheartedly if you like anime. it was crazy and full of all kinds of visual effects and stuff.

City of Lost children though, it was just kinda weird. Very well put together no doubt, but I kinda couldnt see the point of the plot :3
