Is it possible that Heaven and Hell are just figments of our imaganition. Something we create?
Glad to be of Service.

Perhaps. Perhaps not. The mind is very powerful. We could perish but then be caught in an endless dream. But I know my dream, my view of heaven. And that's all that matters. I won't know till I perish. And when I do, I'll be sure to let you know if you're still around.

Of course. We can always use more blades. Besides, it'll be a great competition between us. "Who racks up a higher body count?" ~lol~

Haha!  My two favorite games of all time are based on Norse mythology; one of them is fighting in preparation for Ragnarok.  And even though through most of the game you just fight monsters and not people, I don't think I could ever really live in a situation like that.  I'm just too gentle and physically fragile to fight.

And in answer to Oni's question...anything's possible.  I have this terrible tendency to read things that I know will affirm my belief.  I'm too much of a coward to read philosophies of atheism, or a disbelief in the afterlife.  Sometimes I test my faith by skimming such articles, but I'm always too scared to go into depth.  I'm afraid of what I might find.

~lol~ Yeah Crimson would probably feign being in trouble and call out for me to save her, and my respose would be to kill everything in a straight line to her, then she'd finish off the rest. She threatens James with stuff like that all the time. So that's not a really fair competition.

Rachael, there is no such thing as physically fragile in a fight. "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog." I have a distinct advantage cause I am extremely powerful. As posted in my hi topic. But anyone who has the will to take a stand can be just as good. You merely have to rely on your strengths, then find your weaknesses and eliminate them. I did. Oni did. My 87 pound weakling cousin went from a puny gangster wannabe with serious athsma to a 140 pound war machine who could run till he got tired, bench press about his weight and leg press twice his weight. In 3 months of training with me. All it takes is determination, the will to be better than you are, to make you capable of a fight. Size means nothing, strength means very little if you aren't quick enough to connect. But wisdom, intelligence and skill are far more dangerous tools in battle than any length of steel. Remember that.

MCC Anchorage is probably similar to Asatru, in that, we try NOT to discriminate.

Our mission statement says that we are an inclusive church. We are a church- but we would never turn someone away based on race, creed, orientation, gender etc. We believe that because that's  what we believe God to be like. So, I guess, I am (personally) in agreement with Rachel in that I can't believe that God would want to send a person to hell.

But who knows?????????

Not even if that person knows about the christian religion and refuses to believe in God?
They die and God shows himself to them. But They still say they dont believe?

I believe in Heaven, but I believe strongly that we must live in the here and now, loving, and caring for others.  Making the best of our own lives.  We will know on the day we die for sure what God has for us.  If nothing else it is hope and a good philosophy.  If we get into Heaven, and I can't see God turning his children away, it will be terrific.  I think we'll all be mellowed by the experience, and surprised at who all made it in.

So do you believe there is a hell and only some people can make it into heaven? (this is a question for all)

I believe heaven does not apply to the wicked. If you are consistently hypocritical, constantly lie, steal without any need, and cause severe harm to everyone you meet, such as a serial rapist, you deserve punishment. Call it heaven and hell if you like. However, if I go to the afterlife and see people that were like psychotic serial murderers that only got in cause they repented just before their execution, I'll kill that bastard again and throw him off the clouds. That's another thing that really irked me... you could be complete human excrement, a worthless sack of flesh and bones, and if you apologize just before you die, you're forgiven. That makes me so man. You hurt countless people, and even more with the ripples of your actions, and all you do is say "I'm sorry" and it goes away like a sand castle hit with a tsunami wave... You aren't forgiven so easily with us.

My daughter, Rebecca's, best friend, Cynthia Allenger (age 8 soon to be 9) was kidnapped on July 4th, 1996 near Tacoma, Washington.  She was tortured, raped, and walked to a field where she was murdered. Rebecca could not be in the dark after that and she could not be alone ever for nearly ten years. Cynthia's parents were asked by the prosecution if they wanted the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole.  (This was in Washington state so the death penalty was an option.)  They opted to ask for life in prison which the judge granted.  That man has a long time to think about what he did.  If he repents and truly asks for forgiveness I would not be mad that he made it to heaven.  I don't expect that I'd run up and give him a hug.  If he doesn't repent, Hell would be a lovely place for him to go.  I don't think it is my decision in spite of what he did to my daughter.  I forgave the murderer years ago for my own good.  The poisonous hatred I was carrying didn't hurt him at all, and it was screwing me up.  I feel better now.

Well, thank you. :) That makes me feel better.

But it's not just that I feel like I'm physically weak.  I don't like fighting.  I'm basically a peaceful soul who doesn't like to hurt anyone, even if they're mean.  That's why I think the Norse gods would have rejected me. :(
