Coming Out - Yukonron

Not long after I started my first dating relationship with another man, who I'd met through mutual friends at the Anchorage Pride Festival, I asked him to move in with me. It was weird to realize that I had a 'boyfriend', but we loved spending our time together.
That Christmas I decided to start the new year by sending a coming-out letter to my mother... one of my best friends, and someone who's opinion mattered the most to me. I thought by putting it on paper, she could take her time reading and rereading my words. The agony came from having to wait for her response from the other end of the country!
She had seen the quality young women I had dated in the past, and was a bit surprised with my reevelation. But was surprised ME was her sadness and disappointment that I apparently hadn't felt comfortable enough to tell her sooner! It was SO liberating being able to send her photos of our weekend adventures together, and express my feelings for him in future letters. By summertime she flew to Anchorage to visit us and meet him. They got along well, and I felt she had blessed our union.
Mom died 3 months after her visit, and I feel fortunate that I was able to be fully open and honest with her while we were able.

You are very fortunate to share your love openly to your mother and her accepting it. Glad to know that all went well when she visited you and your boyfriend. Good thing to tell your mother (in your case write) about your boyfriend when she was alive. Hope you are doing alright.

WoW...Only 4 people have stories about comming out. ... that's  interesting. Mine is a weird one, and so I will take some time over the next week to write it up. It's a long one like Kritters. Has everything a good story needs. Love, Death, Friends, Fighting, Knights, Battles, and even a kissing sceen. But I will write it all out later. Been meeing to anyway. So stay toned

I have to agree with Kritter. You are very fortunite to have such a close relationship with your mother. Not everybody can be that lucky.
