Group Story
« on: 2007, February 26, 12:16:43 pm »
How many people would be interested in writing a group story. Each person writing about 50-100 lines. Please let me know what you think and who all would be interested. Rachael I would really like you in on this if you got the time.
Glad to be of Service.

I talked to Rosa about it, and she said she's always wanted to do something like that.

How does a treasure-hunting story sound?  You know, we go to all these out-of-the-way ruins to look for monies.

Sounds like a good plan.
I will let you start it. Go about 500 words Max. Place it in http://furshockstudios.furrynet.com/index.php?board=19.0 this board. Start a new topic and put the subject as Group Story – Treasure Hunting, and then post your intro to the story.
What do you think for these as rules for the story.

Rules
This will be how this story works. All are welcome to participate. Some one will post a part of the story. No more than 500 words long. And then some one else will pick up the next part of the story. And write the next chapter or next little bit of the story. I would suggest at least 100 words. But if you cant come up with that don’t worry. You can do what ever you want to the story, and the characters, with in the story. If you Kill off a character you have to bring in a new one. You can make it as silly and as serious as you want. Any one can join in at any time. So if you see a part of the story that you want to jump in at. I would jump in quick. Because if when you are don’t typing your post, and you go to post it but you find out some one else has already posted…I will as (if you don’t already) to remove your post. A little warning system has been set up so that shouldn’t happen. A message will pop up when you go to click post that some one has already posted and asks if you want to read there post before you post yours. So even if you think yours is better than theres, I ask that you jump in after the last post. That way the story can stay flowing (well as flowing as these stories can be lol)
A one line example of this would be.
Oni- The Cat jumps over the moon
Rachael – and lands in a puddle of milk
Fox – Started at wet, the Cat jumps out of the milk and runs into a black hole that takes him to the land of make believe.
Oni – As the cat wonders around the new land, he noticed human acting like animals and animals acting like humans.

You guys get the idea?
If you have any questions feel free to ask and post them here.
Do you think those are good rules?
I like your idea. So if you like we will go ahead with it. Just let me know that the rules are ok, and Then you can go ahead and start the story.
Glad to be of Service.

I don't think anyone should kill someone's character without that person's permission.  Also, if that character is killed, I don't think we need to necessarily bring in a new one.  If it was like that, the story would have the same amount of characters (or more) the entire time. :p Like overpopulation or something.

I also like your idea about keeping a character based on someone else in-character, if you happen to write about someone else's character.  For example, if one character loves animals, it wouldn't do to have them barbecuing kittens in the next act or something.

My writing tends to be mostly serious (or at least not entirely ridiculous and random), with some silly moments thrown in.  But if someone takes a silly turn, I won't complain like I did last time. :) That's the fun in writing a group story.  You never know what could happen.

Rules 1.5
« Reply #5 on: 2007, March 23, 07:52:02 am »

Meow,
Ok Rules 1.5
1.   All are welcome to play.
2.   Some one will post a part of the story, no more than 500 words long, preferably no less than 100 words.
3.   Some one else will pick up the next part.
4.   People have freedom to do with the story as they please. I suggest keeping it no more graphical than the last story that Rachael posted. You can make it as silly and serious, even scary if you like, as you want. So if you see a part of the story were you would like to jump in, feel free.
5.   I would jump in quick, because if when you are typing your post, and some one else posts first, there post stays. It will be on a first post first stay bases. That way there is no arguing over timing. So for example you want to jump in and you type up a nice addition to the story, but when you go to post, you notice that some one beat you to the punch (so to speak) there’s stays. So you may have to reword yours if you really liked yours or retype it. Hehe Sorry just the easiest way to keep control and keep it exciting. A little warning system has been set up, so if you do go to post your story, and some one else has posted first, it should tell you. Sadly though it wont tell you till after you hit the post button.
6.   Character killing permission…well unless it is relivent to the story I suggest that if you want to kill of a character you stick to yours. I do not want to put to many rules of what you can and can’t do down as this is the creativeness of everybody, and everyone has different styles. So use your best judgement. And if your character does get killed. Remember you are a creative author as well, you have the magic fingers to bring them back. Hehe. Phenix Down.
7.   When writing about characters created by other people, you have freedom to do with as you please. Though keep in mind the past of that character. I understand that not all of us here are mind readers so we don’t know how the author imagines that character. But for example: If Bob (a fictional charcter that’s created by say Rachael) Loves animals. It’s not a good idea to have him BBQ’n cute adorable kitties when its your turn to write. Though you could say that Bob is mentally ill, and is secretly an ax murder, but still loves kitties. LOL. Nervise break downs are always fun to play with.
8.   Now just remember that every author (witch is all those who want to post on the story) has the freedom of everybody else. So if you don’t like what one author does. Don’t flame him, don’t take it out on his characters. Just remember that you have the same power he/she does and can minuplate the story to your whim on the next post. Not everyone thinks in the same way as everyone else. Just be respectful to eachother.
9.  Oh ya. Any one is free to read and post to the story. But if you have a comment about the story. After the story is created. I will create another group under brainstorm, with a link to the story, were you can post your comments about it, and discuss it. That way comments don’t get mixed in with story. And I encourage everyone to read the stories and comment on them.
10.   As Rachael points out. “You never know what could happen”

Again here is a short one line example:
Oni- The Cat jumps over the moon
Rachael – and lands in a puddle of milk
Fox – Started at wet, the Cat jumps out of the milk and runs into a black hole that takes him to the land of make believe.
Oni – As the cat wonders around the new land, he noticed human acting like animals and animals acting like humans.

Ok guys what do you think of these rules. Anything that needs to be
